Morocco’s Leading Gateways: Q1 2026 Airline Capacity Analysis of Mohammed V International Airport (CMN/GMMN) and Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK/GMMX)
Introduction
Morocco’s two principal international gateways—Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca and Marrakech Menara Airport in Marrakech—presented a compelling shift in capacity dynamics during the first quarter of 2026. While Casablanca has traditionally functioned as the country’s primary hub, Marrakech has increasingly consolidated its role as a high-volume leisure gateway.
According to AeroTrail analysis, Mohammed V International Airport recorded a total of 3,000,576 available airline seats in Q1 2026, averaging approximately 33,339 seats per day. In contrast, Marrakech Menara Airport slightly surpassed this performance with 3,145,569 available seats, translating to an average of 34,950 daily seats—positioning it as Morocco’s busiest airport by capacity during the quarter. This development underscores a structural shift in Morocco’s aviation landscape, driven by strong inbound tourism demand and evolving airline network strategies.
