    Air Cairo launched its first scheduled flights between Cairo and Mitiga International Airport on 1 May, initially operating three weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Airbus A320 aircraft, marking an important step in restoring air connectivity between Egypt and Libya. The service forms part of broader efforts to rebuild Libya’s international air links and improve access to Tripoli as aviation activity gradually normalises at Mitiga Airport. Following the launch, Air Cairo announced plans to expand its Libyan network to include Benghazi, Misrata, and Sebha, reflecting growing cross-border demand and improving regional connectivity. The announcement was made by Chairman Hussein Al-Sharif during discussions in Tripoli with Libya’s Minister of Transport, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, where both sides also explored opportunities to strengthen technical and operational cooperation between Egyptian and Libyan aviation stakeholders.
