    A Boeing 737-800 operating as Camair-Co flight QC222 was involved in a bird strike incident shortly after departure from Cameroon’s Yaoundé-Nsimalen International Airport on 6 May 2026 while operating a scheduled domestic service to Garoua Airport. The aircraft, a 2004-built Boeing 737-8Q8 (WL) registered OK-TVJ and operated on behalf of Camair-Co by Smartwings, encountered the bird strike during the initial climb phase shortly after takeoff. Following the incident, the crew opted to divert the aircraft safely to Douala International Airport as a precautionary measure. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and there were no fatalities on the ground. The extent of damage to the aircraft remains unclear.
