
AerCap has signed lease agreements with Ethiopian Airlines for two Boeing 777-300ERSF converted freighters, marking the introduction of this aircraft type—known as the “Big Twin”—into Africa for the first time, with deliveries scheduled for Q2 2028. The converted freighters offer about 25% more capacity than smaller twin-engine cargo aircraft, enhancing efficiency and supporting Ethiopian Airlines’ expanding cargo operations amid growing global air freight demand. The deal also reinforces the long-standing partnership between the two companies, while aligning with Ethiopian’s broader strategy to invest in modern, high-capacity aircraft and strengthen its position as a leading cargo operator on the continent.
LAM – Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique has taken delivery of a 17.4-year-old Embraer ERJ-190STD (ERJ-190-100), registered C9-AMB (MSN 19000235), on 20 March 2026 under lease from Showa Leasing, marking an addition to its regional fleet.
