A team from the International Civil Aviation Organization has conducted a technical assessment visit to the headquarters of the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority to evaluate readiness ahead of an upcoming international safety audit. The mission included working sessions and technical reviews focused on Libya’s corrective action plans, compliance mechanisms, and implementation of ICAO safety requirements, with particular attention to how effectively these measures are being translated into operational improvements. The ICAO team also issued observations and recommendations aimed at strengthening aviation oversight, improving monitoring systems, and enhancing overall safety performance. Libya’s aviation authority stated that it has already implemented internal reviews and corrective measures to address identified gaps, as part of broader efforts to improve regulatory compliance and aviation safety standards. The initiative is also linked to Libya’s longer-term goal of meeting international requirements that could support the eventual lifting of restrictions on its airspace.
