
The 11th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Africa–Indian Ocean (AFI) Aviation Week, held in Cairo, EGYPT, from 27–31 July 2026, brought together Directors General of Civil Aviation, government officials, aviation regulators, industry leaders, airports, airlines, air navigation service providers, and development partners to advance the sustainable development of Africa's aviation sector. As the region's premier aviation policy forum, the event focused on accelerating the implementation of the ICAO AFI Plan, the AFI Security and Facilitation (SECFAL) Plan, and the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) while strengthening aviation safety, security, air navigation, environmental sustainability, and regulatory oversight across the continent. Delegates also reviewed progress on ICAO's 2026–2050 Strategic Plan, discussed investment priorities, capacity building, and donor support, and explored strategies to modernize airport and air navigation infrastructure, improve regional connectivity, and enhance compliance with international aviation standards.
