EgyptAir faced an unprecedented operational crisis, suspending flights to 13 Middle Eastern destinations indefinitely, marking the largest route grounding in the airline’s modern history. Key hubs affected included Dubai (DXB), Abu Dhabi (AUH), Sharjah (SHJ), Doha (DOH), Kuwait City (KWI), Bahrain (BAH, 96.67% cancellation rate), Beirut (BEY), Amman (AMM, 47.42% disruption), Dammam (DMM), Baghdad (BGW), Erbil (EBL), and Muscat (MCT), with additional disruptions on Jeddah, Riyadh, and other Gulf routes. On March 3 alone, Cairo experienced 72 cancellations affecting approximately 14,400 passengers, with EgyptAir operating at just 45% of its normal Middle Eastern capacity and widebody aircraft grounded. Across EGYPT, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh airports saw 36 delays each, contributing to a 227-disruption multi-day operational collapse, leaving an estimated 300,000 international visitors stranded, primarily in the Red Sea resort regions.
