Egyptian airports reported a strong start to 2026 under Captain Wael El-Nashar, with passenger traffic showing steady growth despite regional challenges. In January and February, total passengers reached 4,646,578, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and a 53% rise from 2024. From March 1–24, traffic totaled 1,798,962 passengers, slightly above the 1,770,032 recorded during the same period in 2025. While some airports like Alexandria, Sphinx, Assiut, and Sohag experienced minor dips due to Gulf market ties, the overall network remained resilient, demonstrating Egypt’s aviation sector’s capacity to maintain operations, support tourism, and act as a stable regional travel hub.
Uganda’s aviation sector continues to expand as part of its strategy to become a regional hub, with Entebbe International Airport showing strong growth in both passenger and cargo traffic.
