The new agreements build on recent partnerships with several other carriers and aviation service providers, reinforcing NAHCO's growing regional footprint. Beyond passenger operations, the company has also expanded its cargo business by supporting the export of solar cells from Lagos to the UNITED STATES since January 2026, providing end-to-end cargo handling, warehousing, export processing, and aircraft handling services. NAHCO attributed its continued commercial success to over 47 years of operational experience, ongoing investment in technology, and its commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and reliable ground and cargo handling solutions that enhance airline operations and connectivity across Africa.
EGYPT and TURKEY have strengthened their defence ties by signing a military cooperation agreement during the fifth Egyptian-Turkish Military Cooperation Committee meeting in Cairo, where Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa and Turkish Chief of General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu agreed on a framework to expand joint military activities, enhance bilateral cooperation, and facilitate the exchange of expertise between their armed forces. The agreement coincides with the launch of the multinational Anatolian Eagle 2026 aerial exercise in TURKEY, involving fighter aircraft from EGYPT, TURKEY, and AZERBAIJAN alongside a NATO airborne early warning aircraft. The exercise, which began with theoretical training to harmonise combat concepts and operational procedures, will progress to joint flight operations aimed at improving interoperability, combat readiness, and the ability of participating forces to conduct coordinated missions, reflecting the growing strategic and defence partnership between Cairo and Ankara.

Cape Winelands Airport and Stellenbosch University have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to advance “smart” and “green” development aligned with the airport’s planned R8 billion expansion in the Western Cape. The partnership is designed to integrate academic research, engineering expertise, and aviation infrastructure development across areas such as transport and logistics, spatial planning, agriculture, aviation research, and smart technologies, creating a living laboratory for innovation and applied learning. It will support student research projects, particularly in engineering management, and explore the creation of facilities for testing, prototyping, and aviation-related innovation, while also contributing to long-term skills development in airport operations, pilot training pathways, and transport systems. University leadership emphasised the initiative as a model for industry–academia collaboration driving regional innovation, while airport management highlighted its role in building an ecosystem that links infrastructure development with human capital growth. The expansion is projected to generate significant economic impact, supporting about 35,000 jobs during construction and over 100,000 jobs in its first two decades of operation, positioning the airport as a major catalyst for regional economic development, innovation, and employment in the Western Cape.
