    Sebha International Airport was officially inaugurated on 16 May 2026 during a lavish ceremony following the completion of its construction and equipping under the supervision of the National Development Authority (NDA). The event was attended by senior government and military representatives, including the NDA Director General Mahmoud Al-Farjani, members of the House of Representatives, local officials, airline representatives, and traditional leaders. The airport has been developed with modern specifications and advanced facilities as part of broader national efforts to upgrade infrastructure in southern Libya. Authorities said the project is a strategic milestone aimed at improving regional connectivity, strengthening transport links between southern cities and the rest of the country, and supporting socio-economic development through enhanced access to air services.
