    TAAG Angola Airlines has strengthened its leadership position in AFRICAN aviation after its Chief Executive Officer, Miguel Carneiro, was elected Chairperson of the Airlines Association of Southern Africa (AASA) for the 2026/2027 term during the association’s 56th Annual General Assembly held in MAURITIUS on 10 October 2026. AASA brings together airlines, airports, regulators and other aviation stakeholders to promote regional cooperation, improve air connectivity, enhance operational safety and support the sustainable development of air transport across SOUTHERN AFRICA. The meeting also confirmed that ANGOLA will host the 57th AASA Annual General Assembly in October 2027, giving the country an opportunity to showcase its aviation infrastructure, industry development and ambitions for greater regional connectivity. Carneiro’s election is expected to provide TAAG with a stronger platform to participate in industry policy discussions and initiatives affecting airline operations, regulatory cooperation and the future development of AFRICAN air transport.
