CANADA and TUNISIA have expanded their bilateral Air Transport Agreement, significantly widening market access and creating new opportunities for passenger and cargo operators between the two countries. Announced by Transport Canada on 14 September 2026, the revised framework increases the entitlement for each country from four to seven weekly passenger-combination flights, while expanding access from a single point in each country to all points in CANADA and TUNISIA. The agreement also introduces unlimited weekly all-cargo flight rights, where the previous framework provided no dedicated cargo services. The expansion comes as demand for CANADA–TUNISIA air connectivity continues to grow, with passenger traffic increasing by more than 55% since the agreement was last expanded in 2019. CANADA–TUNISIA merchandise trade reached C$439 million in 2025, while Canadian direct investment in TUNISIA stood at C$183 million, reinforcing the importance of air links to trade, tourism, education, business and family travel. The revised agreement forms part of CANADA’s broader efforts to expand international air connectivity and diversify commercial links across AFRICA.
