    Route & Connectivity: Week 41, 2026

China Southern Airlines inaugurated its Guangzhou–Changsha–Addis Ababa passenger service on 12 October 2026, becoming the only Chinese carrier operating a direct air link between CHINA and ETHIOPIA, according to Xinhua. The inaugural flight, CZ8095, arrived at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport carrying more than 200 passengers and received a traditional water cannon salute. The service operates twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, connecting Guangzhou (CAN) in southern CHINA and Addis Ababa, ETHIOPIA’S capital, via Changsha (CSX) in central CHINA. On the inaugural day, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (B-1169) operated the Guangzhou–Changsha sector, departing Guangzhou at 10:23 a.m. and landing in Changsha at 11:13 a.m., after a flight of approximately 50 minutes. Among the inaugural passengers was a 20-member tour group from Guangzhou planning a nine-day visit to explore Addis Ababa and communities in southern ETHIOPIA. The route is expected to strengthen tourism, business travel and trade links amid growing CHINA–AFRICA economic cooperation, while expanding air connectivity between the two countries.
