
Arkia operated its first flight between Tel Aviv and Marrakech on August 19, 2026, marking the restoration of a direct air link between MOROCCO and ISRAEL after a nearly three-year suspension. Flight IZ25, operated by an Airbus A321neo (4X-AGH), arrived at Marrakech-Menara Airport (RAK/GMMX) following its scheduled departure from Tel Aviv. Arkia plans to operate the route twice weekly using Airbus A320-family aircraft. Direct scheduled flights were originally launched in July 2021 under the Abraham Accords, with Arkia later expanding service to Essaouira. Operations were halted in October 2023 following the outbreak of the Gaza war, when Royal Air Maroc suspended its Casablanca–Tel Aviv route and Israeli carriers Arkia and El Al stopped serving Marrakech. The resumption of flights restores travel between the two markets amid a complex diplomatic environment, as MOROCCO maintains relations with ISRAEL while supporting Palestinian statehood, a two-state solution and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
