Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new direct freighter service between Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), CHINA, and Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD), ETHIOPIA, establishing Chengdu’s first direct all-cargo air link with AFRICA. The inaugural ET3005 service operated on 28 August 2026, with Boeing 777F ET-AVQ flying from Chengdu to Addis Ababa; the flight took 8 hours and 21 minutes, departing TFU at 11:30 AM and landing at ADD at 2:51 PM. The route initially operates twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays, with plans to increase frequency to four flights per week through capacity optimisation. Using Addis Ababa as its continental cargo hub, Ethiopian Airlines will distribute freight from Southwest China to major AFRICAN markets across its network, including Lagos, Accra, Dakar, Entebbe and Lubumbashi, with connectivity extending to 54 AFRICAN countries. The new service strengthens direct air cargo connectivity between CHINA and AFRICA, supporting growing trade and economic exchanges while giving exporters and importers a faster and more efficient link between Southwest China and markets across the AFRICAN continent.
