The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has extended the validity of its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin (CZIB-2017-02R20) for Libyan airspace (Tripoli FIR – HLLL) until 31 January 2027, citing the country's continued volatile security environment. EASA warns that the presence of rival governments, armed groups, military drone operations and aviation-related weapons, including man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) and anti-aircraft artillery, poses a high risk to civil aviation below Flight Level (FL) 320, particularly due to the potential for aircraft misidentification during periods of heightened tension. Consequently, operators are advised not to operate below FL320, except for flights to coastal airports that approach from the sea, are fully coordinated with local authorities and air traffic control, and are supported by robust operational risk assessments.
