
The ETHIOPIAN House of People’s Representatives has ratified a set of landmark aviation proclamations aimed at strengthening international air connectivity, reducing operational costs, and advancing ETHIOPIA’S position as a regional aviation hub. The key measures include Proclamation No. 1417/2018 (SIERRA LEONE), which facilitates direct flight access to selected destinations; Proclamation No. 1418/2018 (ANGOLA), designed to deepen diplomatic and economic ties through improved air connectivity; Proclamation No. 1419/2018 (BANGLADESH), intended to expand trade, tourism, and foreign investment through increased air traffic flows; and Proclamation No. 1420/2018 (ESWATINI), which is the most commercially significant, as it removes customs duties on essential aviation materials and allows unrestricted cargo flight frequencies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
