Africa World Airlines (AWA) has restored its Accra–Abidjan route, reconnecting GHANA and CÔTE D’IVOIRE several years after the service was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the airline seeks to strengthen regional connectivity and support trade between the two neighbouring economies. The relaunch was operationally confirmed on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, when AWA flight AW324 departed Accra’s Kotoka International Airport (ACC) for Abidjan (ABJ). The service was operated by a 50-seat Embraer 145 registered 9G-AEU, which was scheduled to depart at 2:00 p.m. and ultimately left Accra at 2:48 p.m. Speaking at the relaunch ceremony at Abidjan Airport, AWA Founder and Co-Chairman Togbe Afede XIV described the reconnection as a priority given the countries’ strong economic and historical ties, stressing the carrier’s long-term commitment to supporting bilateral business and people-to-people links. The relaunch forms part of a broader AWA expansion strategy that will include the acquisition of larger Embraer E190 aircraft, increasing capacity beyond its current Embraer 145 fleet and enabling the airline to pursue additional African markets.
