    Kenya Airways has completed its first-ever landing gear replacement on a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, marking a significant expansion of the technical capabilities of its Engineering and Maintenance division and supporting the carrier’s ambition to establish itself as a leading Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider in AFRICA. The complex operation was carried out by the airline’s Nairobi-based engineering teams and involved safely jacking the wide-body aircraft, removing and replacing the landing gear assembly, followed by systems integration, testing and certification. Kenya Airways said the milestone demonstrated the growing expertise of its maintenance workforce and strengthened its ambition to become the “MRO of Choice in AFRICA and Beyond.” The achievement builds on the carrier’s recent expansion of its heavy-maintenance capabilities, including completion of its first Boeing 787-8 D-check, and could enable Kenya Airways to undertake a broader range of specialised work for its own fleet and potentially other operators.
