The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) successfully convened the 3rd Global Aviation Gender Summit in Luanda, Angola, from 21–23 July 2026, bringing together government ministers, civil aviation regulators, airlines, airports, aerospace companies, international organizations and industry leaders to advance gender equality across the global aviation sector. Hosted in partnership with Angola's National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), UN Women and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) under the theme "Advancing Aviation Through the Empowerment of Women," the summit focused on translating commitments into measurable actions to increase women's participation in aviation, particularly in leadership, technical and operational roles. Discussions covered workforce development, STEM education, mentorship, leadership opportunities, inclusive workplace policies and data-driven strategies to address persistent gender imbalances amid growing global demand for skilled aviation professionals.
