    Infrastructure & Finance Trails: Week 29, 2026

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has commissioned a new Flight Information Display System (FIDS) at Walvis Bay International Airport at a cost of approximately N$1.3 million, as part of efforts to modernise passenger services and enhance airport efficiency. The upgraded digital system provides real-time flight information, including arrivals, departures, boarding schedules and gate changes, through screens installed across key terminal areas such as check-in counters, departure lounges and waiting zones. NAC said the investment will improve the passenger experience by ensuring accurate and timely travel updates while also strengthening coordination between airlines and airport operations teams. The system comprises specialised software, display screens, operator workstations and server infrastructure, enabling faster updates and improved communication. The upgrade forms part of NAC’s broader strategy to align NAMIBIAN airports with international service standards, with Walvis Bay International Airport playing a strategic role as a gateway supporting tourism, business and cargo activities in the Erongo region and NAMIBIA’s coastal economy.
