
An Air France Boeing 777-300ER operating flight AF711 from Dakar to Paris Charles de Gaulle diverted to Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after the crew declared a general emergency while flying over MOROCCO airspace. The aircraft, registered F-GZNG, departed Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar at about 7:32 a.m. GMT and, approximately two and a half hours into the flight, selected transponder code 7700, signalling an emergency requiring priority handling by air traffic control. Flight-tracking data showed the aircraft turning towards Casablanca and subsequently making a rapid descent before being recorded as diverted to Mohammed V International Airport, whose runways can accommodate widebody aircraft such as the Boeing 777.
