
Kufra International Airport has officially resumed normal operations following the completion of runway maintenance, confirmed through a published NOTAM. The airport, which closed on 15 January for a month-long rehabilitation programme that began on 19 January, has now restarted flight operations in line with standard procedures. Located in southeastern Libya near the borders with Egypt, Sudan, and Chad, and under the control of authorities based in Benghazi, Kufra plays a strategic role in regional air navigation, with up to 100 international overflights daily. While the closure had previously drawn speculation regarding its broader geopolitical implications, airport management stated that the maintenance work has been completed successfully and reaffirmed its commitment to operational continuity and air navigation safety.
