
Nigeria and Ghana have signed a bilateral search and rescue (SAR) agreement aimed at strengthening aviation safety and emergency response coordination across their shared airspace. The agreement, formalised in Accra, involves cooperation between the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. It aligns both countries’ emergency response procedures with International Civil Aviation Organization standards, enabling faster and more coordinated responses to aircraft distress situations. The initiative reflects growing regional cooperation in West African aviation and is expected to enhance passenger confidence, support tourism, and strengthen the safety framework for cross-border air travel in the region.
