
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has clarified that the new flight procedures introduced at Wilson Airport were implemented to support the reopening of Runway 07/25 following more than six months of maintenance and rehabilitation, rather than being a response to two aircraft incidents reported earlier this year. Published through Aeronautical Information Supplement (AIP) 31/2026 on July 28, the revised procedures include minimum flying heights that KCAA says comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and form part of routine reviews undertaken when airport infrastructure, runway configurations or operational requirements change. KCAA stressed that the procedures were not based on the March 20 Safarilink incident or the May 22 crash-landing involving a Dornier 228 operated by the United Nations Humanitarian Air Service (UNHAS), both of which remain subject to separate technical investigations.
